The
Victim/Witness Assistance Unit works closely with the advocates from the
Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault
Resource Center and the Division
of Parole and Probation to provide support for victims of family violence
in Garrett County. Because each of our agencies focuses on a somewhat
different aspect of family violence, we work together as a team to provide
victims with support, assistance, protection and information as soon as
an incident is reported and for as long as needed thereafter. We
spend a great deal of time exchanging information concerning the status
of current, new, and old family violence cases.
On
the second Friday of each month we hold a forum for residents of Grantsville
as part of the Hotspot Communities Initiative to provide information to
victims of family violence. The forum is held at the Grantsville Town Hall,
and the hours for the second Friday of the month are 10-12 Noon and 1-4PM.
